A Future In Bioethanol
Leyte Agri Corp. is a dynamic offshoot of TAO Corporation’s diversification from its molasses and alcohol trading businesses. It is the first bioethanol plant in the Philippines.
The subsidiary, established in 2001, is primarily engaged in the manufacture of food-grade (beverage and industrial) alcohol. Its distillery in Ormoc City ably contributes to the economic development of both the community, the local and national governments. It has a total manpower of 85 employees.
Leyte Agri Corp. is now focused on the bioethanol market. It has commissioned its 30,000 liters per day. The bioethanol plant, the first of its kind in the Philippines, was inaugurated on August 27, 2008. To date, Leyte Agri Corp. has produced 3,635,700 liters and has sold 3,620,500 liters to Pilipinas Shell, Petron, TWA Flying V and Jetti Petroleum. The Company remains steadfast in meeting the growing demand for bioethanol fuel.
The company supports the government's program on alternative fuel, safer environment and economic stability.
A Responsible Industrial Citizen
The LCO2 recovery plant Ormoc is a symbol of the Company's deep regard for a safer environment. Leyte Agri works closely with the Multi-Partite Environment Monitoring Team consisting of the DENR, NGO, LGU and sectors from the church and academe to assess the plant's enactments on environmental safety and protection.
In November 2006, Leyte Agri was conferred with the " International Green Apple Environment Award for Environment Best Practice " at the House of Commons in London. Said recognition gives a competitive edge and poses a challenge to its employees to adhere to superior environmental standards at all times.
